Embera Chamí Family Visit in Valparaíso – Half Day from Támesis, Antioquia
A morning with an Embera Chamí family
This half-day programme can be added to your stay in Támesis as an extra activity, or replace one of the existing activities. It gives you a real insight into the life and traditions of an Embera Chamí family in the Marcelino Tascón reserve, in the municipality of Valparaíso, a 45-minute drive from Támesis.
Valparaíso and the Marcelino Tascón reserve
Valparaíso (1,375 m above sea level) is a small village nestled in the western mountain range of the department of Antioquia, about 27 km from Támesis. On the hills above the village lies the reserve of the Embera Chamí community of Marcelino Tascón. The families live from farming and from growing heliconias, and they place great value on preserving their culture and traditions.
