THE SOCIAL METAMORPHOSIS OF MORAVIA - HALF DAY TOUR MEDELLIN - URBAN COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE
The Moravia neighborhood, located in the city of Medellín, in commune 4, has an interesting and remarkable history. Moravia's story has become an example of resilience and overcoming for other communities in similar situations. Originally, the area where the Moravia neighborhood is now located was known as the "Ciudadela Antioquia" and was built as a social housing complex in the 1940s.
However, as the years went by, the area became a densely populated area and grew informally, with the arrival of people displaced by the armed conflict in other regions of Colombia. During the 1970s and 1980s, Medellín faced a period of violence and drug trafficking that had a significant impact on the Moravia neighborhood.
For many years, it was known for being a garbage dump, as it was established over a former municipal dump. In recent years, however, significant efforts have been made by the Medellín mayor's office, community organizations and the neighborhood community itself to transform the area and improve the living conditions of its inhabitants.
The community tourism and cultural programs that we offer in Moravia were developed by the community itself and their participation contributes directly to the development and quality of life of the community. The tours at the Moravia neighborhood offer interesting insights through creative experiences and the transformation of usable waste.

TRIP ITINERARY:
Metamorphosis of Moravia - 4 hours
Recommended Departure from the Hotel in Medellin at 8am. Walking to the Metro Station and following the ride to the Metro Station Caribe where you will be welcomed by the local community guide.
Guided walking tour with many interesting insights about the history and transformation of the Moravia district. When finishing the tour we take the metro back to the closest station to your hotel or continue with further activities in Medellin.

CREATIVE EXPERIENCES
1. Visiting the Urban Garden
Thanks to their persistence and entrepreneurial spirit, the Moravia families were able to create the largest garden in the city of Medellin with an area of about 30,000 square meters. You will explore and live a unique experience in our vegetable garden, learning the benefits of each of the vegetables and aromatic plants we have there.
You will also be able to enjoy the following options:
*Delight yourself with an exquisite green smoothie.
* Sow with your own kit in "Doña Marina's" vegetable garden.
2. Tire Transformation Experience
With the help of an expert you will design an original mat, where you will put your creativity and imagination to the test. In addition, you will learn the steps of transforming a tire into wonderful decorative pieces.
3. Creative and ecological experience making handmade paper
You will make your own piece of handmade paper; enjoying a wonderful creative and environmental experience.
4. Artistic Experience
You will be able to witness a wonderful dance show in which you will enjoy ballroom rhythms and typical Colombian folkloric dances, as well as participate in a fun class.
