Amazon, Indigenous people and Caribbean – 14 Days / 13 nights Tour
Amazon Tours in Colombia with visit of the Andean Capital Bogota and the famous historical town Cartagena located on the Caribbean coast.
We start our Tour in Bogota, the thriving capital of Colombia, admiring the 30.000 pieces of amazing pre columbian gold collection, visiting the colonial candelaria district and the gigantic fruit and flower market. Continuing to the Amazon Region from Leticia discovering the Parrot Park. Amazonian fruits and fish products in its market place, navigating the Amazon River to the buffer zone of the Amacayacu National park, interacting with Ticuna indigenous communities in Mocagua and enjoying the experience of knowing a sustainable town in the middle of the jungle: Puerto Nariño and its Ramsar ecosystem such as the lakes of Tarapoto. Enjoy the high jungle trail where you can appreciate the importance of the Amazon in a journey of approx. 1 hour. There will be canoeing in the Matamata ravine, visit a nearby indigenous community, gastronomy, handicrafts and biodiversity.
And last but not least we will finish our experience in the beautiful colonial town of Cartagena and enjoying several days on one of the best island resort the Colombian Caribbean has to offer.

DETAILED TRIP ITINERARY
Day 1 : Arrival Bogota
Arrival at International Airport Bogota El Dorado. Private Transfer to your hotel.

Day 2 : City Tour Bogota
We will visit Colombia's capital Bogota, located at 2600 meters above sea level surrounded by the most extensive high plateau in the Colombian Andes. A large metropolis with about 10 Millions inhabitants. Bogota is also called the Atenas of South America, an appellation that derives from an analogy with the capital of Greece for its great cultural and artistic offerings at the time, when it was a center of museums, libraries, art galleries and theaters. During an approx. 7 to 8 hour City Tour you visit the Monserrate View Point, the spectacular Gold Museum, the Candelaria colonial district and the fruit and flower market.

Day 3 : Leticia – Reserva Acapu Sector Kilómetros
Transfer to International airport El Dorado in Bogota and flight to Capital of the Amazon Department Leticia. Reception at the Alfredo Vásquez Cobo International Airport at Leticia, the colombian capital of the Amazon Region.
Transfer to the Acapu Reserve, installation and lunch. In the afternoon visit Maloca Murui (Huitoto indigenous people) where it is possible to appreciate the process of mambe* and gastronomy of the ethnic group. Return to the Reserve, night walk. Dinner and lodging.
*Mambe or ypadú (in Huitoto: jíibie) is a powder obtained by roasting, grinding and sifting the leaves of Amazonian coca (Erythroxylum coca var. ipadu -in Uitoto: jibína) and generally mixing them with ashes from the leaves of the Cecropia tree.

Day 4: Reserva Acapu - Beatriz Creek
After breakfast we go for a hike along ecological trails, medicinal gardens and observe some local flora and fauna. Biocultural interpretation of the biological corridor of the Beatriz creek, bathing in the creek. Rest in hammocks. Lunch. Return to the reserve observing birds, frogs and other species.
After the dinner we enjoy a night walk, campfire. Lodging.

Day 5 : Reserva Acapu-Leticia-Marasha Natural Reserve
Breakfast. Departure to Leticia, visiting the apothecary of medicinal plant and, the market square. Continuation by the Amazon River to the Marasha Reserve, entrance to the reserve by canoe (rising water season), installation. Lunch. Afternoon activities of canoeing, kayaking, fishing.
Dinner and night excursion, where it is possible to observe caimans and nocturnal fauna.

Day 6- Marasha- Mocagua - Craft workshop with the community - Foundation Maikuchiga - High Jungle Hiking - Canoe Rafting Quebrada Matamata
After the breakfast transfer to the dock to take private boat service to Mocagua overlapping area of the Amacayacu National Natural Park, along the Amazon River in a journey of approximately one hour and forty minutes. Arrival and installation at the Ecohotel La Ceiba, a community enterprise. Departure to visit the community of Mocagua (Ticuna ethnic group), painted houses and enjoy an Amazonian lunch of the community. Craft workshop (basketry, chambira or pottery).
Visit to the Maikuchiga Foundation, where they are developing a monitoring program for the Mico Churuco (monkey species) and the conservation and protection of primates, with this visit we will support this work and you can also learn how primates are essential in biodiversity.
Hike through the high jungle and return to the hotel by canoe through the Matamata creek, natural limit of the Amacayacu Park (subject to weather conditions and low water season). Dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Mocagua – Isla Cacao – Comunidad Altamira – Puerto Nariño – Lagos de Tarapoto
Breakfast. At 8am, departure to Cacao Island located in Peru, in front of Puerto Nariño in approximately 2 kilometers in a straight line across the Amazon River. The island is home to the Altamira indigenous community where the Tikuna and Cocama ethnic groups live together. It is surrounded by lakes where you can observe the largest aquatic plant in the world "Victoria Regia" and where you can enjoy artisanal fishing, bird watching and sloths. In low water season, you can cross traditional crops of yucca, banana, vegetables and some vegetables such as cucumber, paprika, tomato, ahuyama before reaching the community.
Continuation to the town of Puerto Nariño in an approximate route, tour of the town, visit to the viewpoint and walk through the village. Typical lunch. Continuation to the Tarapoto Lakes with the possibility of observing the bufeos (pink and gray dolphins). Return to La Ceiba.

Day 8: Mocagua-Leticia-Parque Santander
Breakfast. Return to Leticia visiting in the community of Valencia the cocoa and the chagra crops, in Macedonia the community of artisans. Arrival in Leticia, installation in the hotel Decalodge Ticuna or Waira Suites (subject to availability), lunch.
In the afternoon, visit the Santander Park or Parrot Park, here you will see thousands of parrots arriving at your sleeping place. Enjoy an ice cream with Amazonian fruits.

Day 9: Leticia – Aeropuerto Vásquez Cobo - Flight to Cartagena
Breakfast, time to enjoy the hotel; at the agreed time transfer to the airport to take the flight out to Cartagena.

Day 10: Exploring Cartagena - Half day City Tour
After the breakfast we will explore Cartagena during a guided city tour. Visit of the largest fortress the Spanish have build in its american territories and walking tour through the historic city center.

Day 11: Island excursion to Punta Faro - Mucura island 4 nights
Let's go to San Bernardo Island Archipelago! We will enjoy 5 days on one of Colombia's Top Caribbean island Resorts with sun and beach. In the morning we will take a speedboat from the port in Cartagena La Bodeguita which we can reach on foot from our hotel. From there we will reach the island resort Punta Faro in about 2 hours. Besides sun and beach you can enjoy other activities on site like scuba diving, snorkeling, Kayak, Paddle board, Bicycle, Tenis, massages etc (not included in the price).
