“Heavenly Providencia” is the second largest island in the archipelago, which includes San Andrés, Providencia, Santa Catalina, los cayos de Rocador, Quita Sueño and Serrana. It is home to the third largest coral reef in the world! Providencia and its neighboring island Santa Catalina represent a tourism of relaxation and far away from the daily noise. The hilly landscape and lush vegetation form a wonderful contrast to the Caribbean Sea. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the Colombian Caribbean can be found here. Extent: 17 km2

Location: Western Caribbean Sea, 775 km (480 nautical miles) northwest of the Atlantic coast of Colombia and 220 km from the east coast of Nicaragua.

Climate: Warm with average temperatures of 27 ºC, increased rainfall is to be expected from January to June.

Fauna and flora: The island is surrounded by a large coral reef and rich fish life. A special feature of Providencia is that reef and hammerhead sharks can be observed in some places.

Deco chamber: In Providencia, South West Bay sector, the Sirius diving school operates a deco chamber.

FLIGHTS BETWEEN SAN ANDRES AND PROVIDENCIAS

The colombian state run airline Satena is operating the flights with Propeller airplanes between San Andres and Providencia island. There are mostly 3 flights per day in each direction, the duration of the flight is approx. 40 Minutes.

Please note that you may have 15 kg in your checked baggage, divided between a maximum of 2 suitcases, hand luggage may weigh 5 kg; remember that you may have a personal item that may not exceed 2 kg, the additional kilos are subject to availability and it is not possible to insure them, if they can be transported, they have a value of COP 9,000* per additional kilo, up to a maximum of 32 kg per person.

Connecting flights to/from Medellin or Bogota vary depending on the selected date and will be adjusted to the Satena flights between San Andres and Providencia.

Flight to San Andres and then connecting flight with Satena to the island of Providencia. Transfer to the hotel. In the evening, meeting at the diving center and equipment sizing.

2 dives in the morning. Free time in the afternoon. Scooters or motorcycles can be hired to explore the island.

Day 4: Day boat tour around the islands of Providencia and Catalina

Transfer by cab to the northwest side of the island, Deep Blue harbor. During a 7-hour boat tour you will visit 2 snorkeling spots in the coral reef, Cayo Cangrejo (Crab Bay) and the most emblematic beaches and places of Providencia and Santa Catalina. The captain will tell you about the history and culture of the island from 1660, when the first English settlers, pirates and buccaneers arrived, to the present day. You can also stop at your favorite beach, eat at one of the restaurants or have a picnic with food of your choice.
The boat is equipped with: Canopy tent, ladder, masks, fins, life jackets, cooler with ice, Bluetooth speaker, 2 snacks to choose from (peanuts, nuts, crackers, granola bars or fruit), drinking water included. You can bring additional food and drinks as you wish. Transfer by cab back to the hotel.
