A dream destination for outdoors enthusiasts and nature lovers
South-West Antioquia is the coffee region of Medellin making part of the central and western andean mountain chain. Because of the minerals of the volcanic soil this mountains are covered with lush forests and an incredible diversity of tropical plants. There are many coffee and cacao farms, citrus fruit plantations and a local mineral water source of high quality. There are 2 communities of Embera Chami indigenous people, which still care a lot about their ancient costums and rituals.
The villages embedded in the green hills offer an colorful antioquia-style colonial architecture, which we can find also in the coffee triangle. The difference is, that most places in South-West Antioquia are still off the beaten track.
